About Us

Mithra Publishing represents a break from traditional methods of publishing. In the past, there were only two accepted methods of getting a book into print: self publishing (or any number of variations which usually involve the author contributing an agreed percentage towards the cost of the book or, as in some cases, paying for everything) and company financed publishing.
The first was often a prohibitively expensive option for the writer while the second was - and still is - a notoriously slow, conservative approach that many find difficult to reconcile with the creativity of expression that is fundamental to good writing.
The inescapable truth is that, with mainstream publishing becoming concentrated in fewer hands, opportunities for new writers are becoming harder to come by.
Publishing houses often have shareholders to answer to. And because of this, they prefer to invest in proven authors (i.e, those that have a track record of solid book sales) or books associated with well known names. A TV celebrity is more likely to be offered a publishing contract than an Oxford University professor who is a first time author.
That has been the situation for as far back as anyone can remember.

Now there's a third option. Mithra publishing. In essence, Mithra represents an alternative that has yet to be fully explored in the world of publishing.
We are a symbiotic relationship between publishing company, author and commercial advertiser. A relationship that allows advertising agencies to carefully target a market for their clients product or services, thereby subsidising the cost of publishing.
This allows the publisher (that's us) to offer opportunities to both new and established authors (probably you) and to bring down the cost of books for everyone.

Simple really when you think about it.
