So you’ve got your killer idea, that’s got the potential to disrupt a market the size of Texas. You’ve assembled an A grade team, and have attracted grey hair with operating experience in the industry you’re going to disrupt as an advisor, or to your board. You’ve done the financials and have a strong feeling for the fundamentals of the business. You’ve worked together a plan and have an idea of where the capability gaps are and who you need to hire. You’ve also talked to a lot of customers and they like your idea, and have given feedback on how to get it to the sweet spot where they’d make a purchase decision.

As soon as he opened the hotel room door, Mitch realized something was wrong. Whenever entering a darkened room, it was his custom to shut the door behind him first, and then move his hand to the light switch to turn it on. Before his hand touched the switch, he glimpsed a shadow moving towards him. Mitch enjoyed ambushing his prey, but he hated to be on the receiving end.
Mitch had come to know that violence is indeed the proverbial crap shoot. When in it, the best you can expect is to make sure you have stacked the odds in your favor, knowing that if you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics are not good at all. Now, he thought, what do you do when you find yourself in the dark, and the demons have come for you? He knew the answer was to be prepared to move fast and violently in reaction.
A second before Lauren’s car hit the midnight blue one in front of her, she had been thinking about what on earth to serve at Ellen’s surprise birthday party at the weekend.
The shock of the bump focused her mind, along with the sight of the irate woman getting out of it. She couldn’t believe what had just happened. How on earth had they hit each other with the traffic going so slowly? The car in front seemed to stop for no reason.
Sitting very still for a moment to gather her thoughts, Lauren was aware of a surge of nausea creeping up from the bottom of her stomach. It had only been a small bump, surely not enough to cause her to be sick? Gulping back the excess saliva that had pooled in her mouth she felt a slight tingling in her head.
